Three members from the dynamic K-pop group will be coming back to Singapore for a fan-meeting in March
It’s been more than two years since BIGBANG has put out any fresh music content as a group but the Korean pop group wants us to tell you, their beloved VIP fan, that you can expect something in the pipelines soon: “We would like to tell you that we are working very hard on our new album these days.”
After surprising everyone with refreshing tracks like ‘Fantastic Baby’ and ‘Monster’ in 2012’s Alive, what’s next for them? Well, the boys are also keeping their music influences for their new album a secret for now. What we do know, is that they are “trying to get inspirations from everything in our everyday lives,” said BIGBANG during their e-mail interview with xinmsn, “We really do not put a limitation to it.”
Despite gaining traction globally for their music and style (G-Dragon was recently featured on the cover of international fashion magazine Hypebeast and Taeyang and GD were regular front-row attendees at Paris Fashion Week’s shows), there are no plans to release a full English album to cater to their international fans yet.
Acknowledging the fact that “good music, good album” would get them “good attention from all places”, they explained: “Instead of getting limited on a full English album, we think, it’s more important for us to make good music in the first place.”
While no specific dates for their comeback has been set yet, it’d most likely happen in the summer of 2014, according to what their YG head honcho, Yang Hyun Suk, said in a media interview early this year.
In any case, lest you have BIGBANG-withdrawal symptoms, G-Dragon, Taeyang and Seungri will be heading to our sunny isles for their first-ever fan-meeting in March “to give back to fans who have been showing great love” towards them.
Unfortunately, members T.O.P and Daesung will not be present due to their solo schedules (movie shooting for T.O.P. and solo activities in Japan for Daesung), but you never know what sort of interesting videos or gimmicks you might see at the event!
It’s a natural career progression for members to gradually branch out and diversify into various aspects of showbiz as the group marks its eighth year in showbiz this year. We speak to GD, Taeyang and Seungri in an e-mail interview to find out more about their recent individual endeavours in fashion, mentorship and solo music projects.
-other parts omitted-
You and GD are recently nominated for having one of the greatest bromance (or “brothership”) in music. How’d you describe your relationship with GD?
Taeyang: Since we’ve been friends for many years, I think, GD is like another brother of mine in my own family. And, as we also belong to this one team called BIGBANG and accomplish many great things as musicians together, I think, we definitely established a good rapport!
How did it feel like to play mentor on the programme ‘WHO IS NEXT: WIN’?
Taeyang: GD and I really tried to give as many tips as possible to those guys while playing as mentors on the program.
Does it feel strange to be seen and treated as a “mentor” now?
Taeyang: It did feel a bit strange, but it also felt good to recount my experiences to them. The show reminded us of our pre-debut days, and we think, because we went through those times, we could become who we are now as BIGBANG.
BIGBANG’s Thinking Of You Fan Meeting will be held on Saturday, Mar 15, 6pm at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Tickets priced at $258, $228, $188, $148 and $98 (not inclusive of handling fees) are available at all SingPost outlets, Singapore Indoor Stadium box office and at www.sportshubtix.sg.
